3.5.3 PRUIS (Pupil Referral Unit and Integration Service) - Support for Excluded Pupils

Any looked after child who is excluded for any length of time can be referred to the Rapid Response Team in PRUIS for immediate support. 

Generally, this support has been provided by tutors who work with the child at home or another suitable venue. 

When the child returns to school PRUIS are able to offer reintegration support if required.  In some cases the pupil has been allocated a place on the PRUIS programme for their age group.  There is a Key Stage 3 programme that gives children time in a small group for three weeks and then helps them to return to school.  The Key Stage 4 programme works with the children through year 10 and offers a year 11 flexible education programme.
